Research Ethics Board for Clinical Research Studies in Canada
In October 2001, WIRB established its Canadian Panel in response to Health Canada's new Division 5 regulations.
Since its inception, the Canadian Board has reviewed all clinical research submitted
to WIRB by Canadian investigators.
The composition of the Board meets all of the requirements of the Division 5
regulations. Initial and ongoing reviews are conducted
in accordance with Health Canada's Division 5, the Tri Council Policy Statement,
ICH GCP E6 and US CFR Title 21 Parts 50 and 56 and CFR Title 45 Part 46.
The Board meets every two weeks in its office located in Vancouver, BC and
is fully supported by staff at WIRB's headquarters in Olympia, Washington.
To avoid delays in processing Canadian research submissions, all submissions
for review by the Canadian Board must be forwarded to the Olympia office.
WIRB's requirements for Research Ethics Board Attestation forms (REBAs) changed in August 2007.
